Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Commentary

This fragment of a three-columned tablet written in a non-cursive script preserves a celebratory narrative of Tudḫaliya IV on his restoration of the cults of Nerik at the beginning of the third column, and a fragmentary festival description at the end of the fourth column. Whereas it is impossible to determine whether this a festival description or a cult inventory, both the formal features and the content point rather to the former option (see Cammarosano 2013: 80-81).

Palaeography and orthography: Non-cursive script. Late QA (iii 1-2, 6).

iii 1-17: This passage is edited in von Schuler 1965: 186-87.

iv 6′-7′: On this passage see CHD L-N 323.
